This is the best way to experience Esterel! I rented an E-assist mountain bike for €50. That included a helmet, lights, a repair kit, and a local’s guide on which sights I had to see! One of the workers guided me through the OpenRunner app, which is used to map and download bike trails in the area. It was so helpful in finding beautiful views and kept me from getting lost!
During the ride, I fell and damaged the bike. The shop owner was very understanding and charged me the manufacturer’s price for the accessory. A great bike shop with even better employees!

Good bike hire with reasonable prices for the e-bikes. We rented the Trek Rail bikes which are a good quality full suspension e-bike.
I have two criticisms regarding these bikes though, firstly the tyres are not up to the job on the rocky trails of the Massif de l'Estérel, the tyres have weak sidewalls and insufficient tread, most are like an XC tyre, not so good on an enduro bike, punctures are a real problem! Secondly the brakes on the bikes are very poor and there is significant brake fade especially on the longer descents.
Would also recommend bringing your own pedals if riding flats as we did, the pedals provided are plastic with no metal pins for grip. We bought our own which made a huge difference.
There are some great enduro trails in the vacinity which are easily accessed by fire-road, tarmac road or technical single track. The riding is great and will definitely use So Bike again if in the area.
